Jeff Ward wins in closest PRL finish ever!
Gateway Motorsport Park was the site for race #18 of the Coastal Safety Auditors Grand National series, where Jeff Ward inched by Brian Yaczik to win the Gateway 125 by .019 seconds, the closest finish in PRL history to date.
Many drivers tried a 2 tire strategy throughout the night, with mixed results, but after the 6th and final yellow of the race Jeff Ward exited the pits with 2 new tires and his sites on the checkered flag.
The final restart of the race had Jake Wright in 1st on older tires with Ward 2nd on the outside. As Wright lead the field into turn 1, Ward muscled his way past the leader on the outside of turn 4 with 2 laps to go.
Taking the white flag side by side was Ward and Yaczik, as they battled for position 2 wide the entire last lap, but Ward had the speed up high out of turn 4 to take the win over Brian Yaczik in 2nd, followed by Brian Mellendorf 3rd, Jake Wright 4th and Peirre Daigle 5th.
Next week CSA series is headed back to Daytona for the Firecracker 125.
