Wright rights his way to 2 – 0 at Sonoma!
Leading 37 laps the #27 Survey System Ford put the PRL Adovocare Cup series on notice that success on the road courses runs through Jake Wright. In a dominating performance, the Hoosier led 37 of the 55 laps. With 1 caution early in the going, consistency and pace was the recipe for success. Every time the field thought they had an answer, Wright was changing the questions.
The lone caution of the afternoon was on lap 3 when #51 Justin Fuller clipped the tire barrier coming out of the first corner in the Chute. He showed in qualifying and throughout the race he had great pace and ran in the top 5 toward the end but his fuel strategy reared its ugly head and he was forced to make a splash and go.
In his second Advocare Cup race Chad Coleman in the #45 Armor All Chevy was the sole driver in the same district. Being on the same strategy as Wright didn’t allow him to lead any laps but he has nothing to be disappointed about. Jeff Ward, and Brian Mellendorf finished 3rd and 4th, and Mellendorf continues to show that he will have have the speed on any track that you want to run on. Drew Carroll rounded out the top 5 and most certainly gets the award for trying to literally drive the wheels off of the car.
The top 8 in the standings stayed the same with Nick Kohan bumping up a spot to 9th and Rett McBride jumping into the top 10.
