Ward Gets His 5th Win At South Boston
SOUTH BOSTON – Jeff Ward added another win to his season on Monday in the Premier Racing League Coastal Safety Auditors Grand National race at South Boston Speedway. Ward won the Savage Spinners Pole for the SoBo 125 and led 79 laps on the way to his 5th win of the season.
The race featured a one lap shootout where eventual 2nd place finisher, Pierre Daigle, gave Ward a bump going into Turn 1. Ward was able to hold on to his car and kept the #14 of Daigle behind him. The 2nd place finish though was a season best for Daigle who finds himself fighting for a spot in the playoffs.
Woodrow Mahan came home with a solid 3rd place ahead of Jason Galvin in 4th. Galvin led 28 laps earlier in the event. Ricky Monzo came home with a season best finish of 5th.
Joe Hassert came home in 15th and was able to extend his lead over Jeff Rhyne as the last transfer spot in the Chase to 45. Everyone below Jeff Rhyne in the Top 20 in points will need to score a win in order to make the post season with 2 races remaining.
The Coastal Safety Auditor Grand National Series is off next week for Labor Day weekend and will return for the Illinois 150 at Chicagoland Speedway on September 12th.
