Krahula Wins The Battle, Eckrich Wins The War
HAMPTON – The Premier Racing League kicked off AdvoCare We Build Champions week with the Sportsman Truck Series on Sunday. Scott Eckrich, Jake Wright, James Krahula, and Pierre Daigle are the four drivers who had a chance at the championship. Krahula and Daigle would be eliminated as soon as the green flag flew, leaving only Wright, 8 points back from Eckrich, to battle for the title. Wright would lead 16 laps and fight all day, but would fall back to finish 6th on the final run of the night. Eckrich would battle his way up to a 2nd place finish and clinch the 2016 Sportsman Truck Series Championship by 12 points over Wright.
Krahula would dominate the field despite being eliminated from the title hunt. Krahula claimed the Savage Spinners Pole Award before leading the most laps and finishing the season with his 6th win in the series. Krahula would still finish the season 3rd in points, 30 behind Eckrich. Daigle would finish the season 4th in points.
Eckrich finished the season with 8 victories and 14 Savage Spinner Pole Awards. Eckrich will also receive $25 and a plaque to commemorate his championship. The 2017 Premier Racing League Sportsman Truck Series will kick off for a new season in Daytona on February 19th. The series will be broadcast by the Global Sim Racing Channel for most of the schedule.
